Lipika BHATTACHARYA
Lipika Bhattacharya is the Head of Centre for Case Learning Excellence at Singapore Management University (SMU). An internationally recognised expert in case-method pedagogy, she has conducted case-writing workshops for leading business schools worldwide. She is also a prolific case author with several best-selling cases on global platforms like Harvard Business Publishing and Ivey Publishing that have been taught by renowned universities worldwide to over 170,000 students over the last few years. In 2026 alone, 17 of her cases on the Harvard platform were listed as bestsellers.
Lipika has served as a judge for some of the world’s most prestigious case awards, including those organised by The Case Centre and EFMD. Her accolades include The Case Centre’s Outstanding Case Writer Award in 2021 and an EFMD Case Award in 2022. Her work also received recognition from the Financial Times (FT) for its global outreach in 2025.
A passionate educator and advocate of the case method, Lipika believes in its power to bring real-world complexity into the classroom and equip learners with critical thinking, decision-making and leadership skills. Beyond her professional role, she serves as the Chairman of an internal women’s grassroots organisation in Singapore where she designs and leads volunteer projects. Through some of these initiatives, she promotes higher learning by introducing young students to the case method and inspiring them to engage with business challenges through experiential learning. In 2025, she received the Icons of Change International Award for her contributions to inclusive educational strategies worldwide.
Lipika’s thought leadership spans emerging technologies, global corporate strategy and the economic and sustainability implications of artificial intelligence (AI). She is a recognised Agenda Contributor for the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the co-author of the book XAAS: Everything as a Service. Her business cases have also been featured in management textbooks published by Cengage and Routledge. She has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and leading media outlets, including The Business Times, sharing insights on the business, economic and sustainability implications of emerging technologies.
Prior to academia, Lipika spent over 16 years working in the Technology industry in pivotal middle management roles with multinational firms including IBM, Keane Inc. and Tele Atlas. She has worked in several countries including India, France, Belgium, U.S. and Singapore, gaining cross-cultural perspectives and deep insights into global business practices that continue to inform her strategic leadership, case writing and teaching collaborations.
Lipika holds a Master’s degree from Singapore Management University and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science (Valedictorian) from Vinoba Bhave University.
Dr. Cheah Sin Mei
Dr. Cheah Sin Mei is Assistant Director at the Centre for Case Learning Excellence, Singapore Management University. She is an experienced business case author and researcher whose work focuses on developing rigorous, practice-oriented teaching cases for business education.
Since 2018, Sin Mei has authored more than 50 business case studies that have been taught by universities worldwide to over 80,000 students. Her work has been recognised through the inaugural Financial Times Responsible Business Education Awards in 2022 and has included several bestselling cases on the Harvard Business Impact case platform in consecutive years.
Her publications appear in Harvard Business Review in 2025, several peer-reviewed academic journals, and in a book titled The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence for the Sustainable Development Goals, published by Springer.
Before SMU, she had worked at Nanyang Technological University, public-sector agencies, a multinational corporation, and a major local bank.
Sin Mei holds a Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Canberra, Australia; a Master’s in Education Technology from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia; and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore.
Thomas Lim
Thomas Lim is Assistant Director with the Centre for Case Learning Excellence at Singapore Management University. His case study on Thai Wah Public Company Ltd was included in a World Scientific Publishing book on Asian family businesses. He has had considerable experience conducting desktop research for the Australian High Commission and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. He had also carried out media monitoring, news summary writing (including translation from Mandarin news reports to English), and content analysis report writing for various corporate clients. Earlier on in his career, he was a B2B news portal and trade news magazine editor and writer for a former unit of Enterprise Singapore, and a writer for a Mediacorp periodical. He is proficient in English and Mandarin, having studied Higher Chinese during his foundational school years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Language with a second major in English Literature from the National University of Singapore, and a Master of Science in Knowledge Management from Nanyang Technological University.
Chan Chi Wei
Chan Chi Wei is Senior Case Writer for the Centre for Case Learning Excellence at Singapore Management University. He graduated with a BA degree in Political Science and Economics from Emory University, and an MBA from Singapore Management University. His work experience includes over four years in banking operations. He is an avid sportsman.

Mahima Rao-Kachroo
Mahima is Senior Case Writer for the Centre for Case Learning Excellence at Singapore Management University. She graduated with a BA degree in Psychology from the National University of Singapore. Her work experience includes the advertising and publishing industry, launching her own baking business, and case writing for Harvard Business School. She is also a published illustrator, and is an avid baker and ceramicist.

Alvin Lee
Alvin Lee is Senior Case Writer for the Centre for Case Learning Excellence at Singapore Management University. He graduated with a BSc in Film & Television from Boston University and spent 12 years in the financial and sports broadcast industry.
Since 2013, Alvin has been translating academic research into useable insights in both online and physical formats, and tracking online analytics. Case writing was the upstream point of academic content creation, which suited his inclination for storytelling. His favourite topics for cases are strategy and entrepreneurship. His favourite topic in general is cooking.
